Why the Round Menorah?

In 1982 the Rebbe stated that the round Menorah is NOT the real shape of the original Menorah * Furthermore, round branched Menorahs represent the dominance of Golus over Jews * So why the round Menorah?

Former Agriprocessors CEO Sholom Rubashkin will be released on bail pending trial on charges related to an immigration raid last year on the kosher meatpacking plant in Postville. Rabbi's autopsy appeals unsuccessful
Ohad Dotan's Facebook Profile Picture
An autopsy has been carried out on an Israeli tramper despite a request by a Chabad rabbi that it not be done. The coroners' office confirmed yesterday that the autopsy on Ohad Dotan, 27, who died after an apparent fall near the Mueller Glacier in the Southern Alps this week, went ahead. Rabbi Menachem Goldstein, director of Chabad Lubavitch of New Zealand, had asked regional coroner Richard McElrea to avoid a full autopsy as incisions were deemed a desecration in Jewish law.

Israel: Victim or Opressor • Op-Ed
For those of us closely watching events in Eretz Yisroel, the last week and a half has been truly disheartening. Right in the middle of a successful response to the Arab assault that’s been coming out of Gaza since the Disengagement and for years before against our fellow Jews who live from as close to its periphery to as far as Beer Sheva and Ashkelon, the Israeli politicos created a unilateral ceasefire (once again!) and pulled out the troops.

In talking with friends and acquaintances living there who have a well-informed grasp on this new/old reality, the only explanation for why the masses have not risen up in protest against the handful of Jewish politicians responsible for this latest insult to their security and welfare is that everyone is punch-drunk!

$350,000 settlement in cap, beard case
Police Detective Steve Riback, at Chabad of Southern Nevada
The Metro Fiscal Affairs Committee on Monday approved a $350,000 settlement payment to Detective Steve Riback, an Orthodox Jew who sued the department in 2007 after he was prohibited from wearing a beard and head covering, as mandated by his religion. Now that the settlement has been approved, Metro officials are willing to discuss some of the more nuanced terms of the settlement. Here are some details the Sun got from Metro attorney Liesl Freedman: For starters, Riback will be allowed to wear a neatly trimmed beard no more than a quarter-inch long. He will also be allowed to wear a baseball cap — but not a trucker hat — most likely with the LVMPD logo or no logo at all.

SDSU Students rejoice with new torah
An unprecedented event took place recently at Chabad of S Diego; a Sefer Torah was dedicated by students at SDSU. The students dedicated the new Torah to the memory of the Holtzberg's. The dedication of a new Torah is such a rare event, that many Jews observe only one or two of these ceremonies in a lifetime. Hundreds of students, graduate students, young professional and residents of S Diego joined this momentous event. The dedication began with the final letters entered in the scroll at a ceremony held at Chabad of University City led by Rabbi Shalom Boudjnah, which was followed by a parade with the Torah through the campus streets, and many hours of joyous dancing.
