Chayolei Hamelech Newsletter Iyar Edition
Two months to camp and preparations are well under way at the Chayolei Hamelech office. But this does not stop their continuous programs from the previous summer. The birthday campaign and routine phone calls still take place. The primary project, the Chayolei Hamelech Monthly Newsletter, is still at the forefront of the camp's major endeavor; namely, to keep the spirit and enthusiasm gained during the summer alive during the school year and to actually inspire campers to build as chassidishe bochurim who understand the special task of our generation.

Philanthropist Prefers Meron to Meeting Pope

Jewish philanthropist Guma Aguiar turned down a meeting with Pope Benedict XVI Monday and headed north with hundreds of thousands of Jews who made their way to the Galilee mountain gravesite of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai. The philanthropist, famous for donating huge sums to Chabad and Nefesh B' Nefesh, is considering buying the Jerusalem Beitar soccer team. He was one of the notables who opened the Lag B'Omer holiday ceremonies at the gravesite of the Mishnaic Sage in the village of Meron.

Tzivos Hashem Rally
Thousands of children representing all of the local educational institutions, joined together today for a huge Tzivos Hashem rally which took place in front of 770. Rabbi Shimon Hecht, the MC of the event, began the rally with the 12 pesukim followed by a declaration of Yechi. The young Tzivos Hashem Soldiers enjoyed a performance by Uncle Moishy, and a Lag Baomer story from Rabbi Goldstein.

Audio Sampler Tracht Gut
As reported previously by Chabad.info, a new album is being published by chabad singer Yoni Shlomo. Tittled 'Tracht Gut', the album features tracks produced by Moshe Laufer of many different styles. The disc will be available at judaica stores ahead of Lag Baomer. The producers are confident that several of the songs will be real hits including Taneh, and a song tittled Keayal, composed by PInny Weber.

Boro Park Residents hear about Geulah
Annually, on the eve of Lag Baomer, thousands of Boro Park residents gather for a huge bonfire held on 16th Avenue. For the past several years, a group of Temimim studying in 770, have taken advantage of this opportunity to spread the Rebbe's message of Moshiach, by setting up stands near the festivities. Thousands of locals who stopped at the stand bought books on Chassidus and topics of Geulah and Moshiach, wrote to the Rebbe Melech Hamoshiach via the Igros Kodesh, and watched videos of the Rebbe played on a huge outdoor screen  Photo Gallery

The One Stop Shop
Hey! Have you ever shopped on Kingston Ave? I did. There are many stores and shops and a great deal of window shopping. I was looking for a place that sold something cute, different, interesting, something kid and Jewish oriented. Then I found it. Its a charming little store on Kingston Ave. with a big orange awning. There is great customer service and novelties that are age appropriate and low-priced. Prizes Plus on Kingston Ave. has been a one stop shop for me.

Several Charges Against Rubashkin Droped
One at a time, the charges against Rubashkin are being dropped. Yesterday, Federal prosecutors have agreed to drop identity-theft charges against Shalom Rubashkin, a former Postville slaughterhouse executive in a light of a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision. Prosecutors this afternoon asked a federal judge to dismiss seven counts of aiding and abetting aggravated identity theft, in response to a motion filed last week by Sholom Rubashkins lawyer. Defense lawyer Guy Cook hailed the request as a victory for his client and a government admission of overreaching in this case.

Rabbonim defend developer, appeal for help

Chabad center wins approval
In the last regular meeting with its current lineup, Aspen City Council approved a proposal to put a Jewish center at the east end of Ute Avenue. Despite mounting opposition to the Jewish Resource Center Chabad of Aspens plan to convert the Silver Lining Ranch a nonprofit facility that was used to help children with cancer to a Jewish community center, council approved the conversion unanimously.

Crown Heights Around The Bonfire
Last night, hundreds of Crown Heights residents headed to the Lag Baomer celebration on Kingston Ave. After the 12 Pesukim and Yechi were recited, the bonfire was lit. At the conclusion of the lighting, the crowd enjoyed musical entertainment by Danny Finkelman and the Sparks Boys Choir. Southern Most Shlichus in the World
This week Rabbi Shmuly and Henna Kopel and their two children made history, as they touched down in CHCH's International Airport, to begin a six month outreach mission in the South Island's Otago District, a Shlichus to the Southern most Jewish Community in the World. The Kopels were greeted at the Airport by a delegation of Jubilant Rabbinical students, members of the local community and the Rebbe's Shliach to the Country Rabbi Mendel Goldstein.

Brooklyn Gas Stop A Kosher Delight
A gas station in one of Brooklyn's Orthodox Jewish communities is offering up more than just candy and soda -- it's also peddling hearty stews, bagels with lox, challah and homemade gefilte fish for commuters hankering for an old-country nosh. "People fill up on gas and fill up on food at the same time," said Sam Kay, 50, as he munched on goodies at Rio gas station in Borough Park. "It's good, Jewish and tasty."

A mother cries out for help

Tznius: "What can I do?"
Over 150 Anash were there when Rabbi Aharon Dovid Gancz, a renowned Mechanech from Morristown, NJ, addressed the topic "Tznius - What Can I Do?" on Wednesday, 5 Iyar.  Covering issues pertaining to men, like "why is such an emphasis placed on modesty?" and "when should I say something?", the shiur was a great success. CDs of the Shiur are being sold in 770 (center table) and Empire Shtibel from Tuesday morning to Wednesday evening of Parshas Behar-B'Chukosai for $5.

First Lag B'omer Celebration
As the first Lag B'omer Celebration in the world, the Yeshiva Centre - Chabad Headquarters of NSW, Australia, organised a beautiful Hakhel celebration for men woman and children, complete with a Bonfire, BBQ, Magic show, live music and 12 psukim! Mishnayos Baal Peh Gathers Momentum
Students of Lubavitcher Yeshiva, are utilizing the final weeks of the school year to enhance their study of Tanya Baal Peh! The results are tremendous, yet, the students are still not satisfied with themselves, constantly striving to learn even more. To date, 209 students have participated in the Tanya Baal Peh program and nearly 13,000 lines of Tanya were studied by heart. 74 students have completed an entire Perek or more to memory (bvas achas)! and 138 prokim were learnt in total.

Last Known Photo Of Two Mumbai Kedoshim
One half a year after the horrific carnage in Mumbai, the very last photo of two of the kedoshim - Rabbis Bentzion Korman and Aryeh Leibish Teitlebaum HY"D, surfaced. The picture was sent by the driver of the factory where they worked as mashgichim, and was taken but hours before they gave up their lives Al Kiddush Hashem.

Rabbonim: Cancel Papal Meeting
Rabbanim of the Eretz Yisrael Forum, including Rav Sholom Dovber Wolpe and Rav Yaakov Yosef are calling on the chief rabbis to cancel a planned meeting with Pope Benedict XVI, who is scheduled to arrive in Eretz Yisrael on Monday, May 11th. The rabbis cite a number of reasons, including the popes role as a facilitator of idol worship and his role as a member of the Hitler Youth during WWII.

New Shluchim to California
Rabbi Moishe and Michal Carlebach of Los Angeles, CA, will be moving on Shlichus to Toluca Lake, California, where they will establish a new Chabad House, serving the needs of the local Jewish community. They were appointed by Rabbi Josh Gordon and Rabbi Mordechai Einbinder of Chabad of the Valley.

Shliach Tackles Suicide Rate
A dramatic increase in the suicide rate among Jewish youth has prompted a Bondi rabbi to organise a seminar on suicide prevention. Rabbi Mendel Kastel said he was concerned about an alarming number of cases of suicide in the past six months and has set out to educate the Jewish community on how to recognise when someone is at risk. He said many people were not aware they could have a positive impact on someone contemplating suicide.
