Mikvah to be Built in Kostroma
The Jewish community of Kostroma is preparing to build a mikvah. There is an interesting story behind this new mikvah project: During some minor reconstruction work in the Kostrama synagogue, Chief Rabbi, and Chabad Shliach to Kostroma Nison Ruppo found a deep hole in the synagogues kitchen. After examining the pit, which had been filled in with concrete and covered over, it became apparent that the hole had served as the mikvah for the Kostoma community in the years predating the October Revolution.

Yud Shvat Pamphlet
The preparations for Yud Shvat, which will mark 60 years of the Nesiyus of the Rebbe Melech Hamoshiach continue to intensify worldwide. The Shlichus Network has published a beautiful pamphlet, which boasts explanatory material and a short history of the leadership of the Rebbe MH"M. Chof Daled Teves Event Video
In a beautiful event held on the Yartzeit of the Alter Rebbe. Thousands of 'Bnei Yeshiva' from all backgrounds and representing a slew of Yeshivos were tested on hundreds of chapters of the Alter Rebbe's Shulchan Aruch, and Mishnah Brurah at the Gutnick Hall in Jerusalem. The event was also a grand Seudah for the Alter Rebbe's Yartzeit. In attendance were many Admorim, prominent Roshei Yeshiva and Rabbonim.

Deadline for Niggun Submission: Wednesday
In honor of Yud Shvat, which this year will mark 60 years of the Nesius of the Rebbe Melech Hamoshiach Shlita, a special Vaad is being formed to choose a Niggun which will embody the spirit of this momentous milestone. The Vaad will be comprised of Ballei Tefilah, and experienced Ballei Menagnim, several of them individuals who partake in the Vaad which chooses the Niggun for Yud Aleph Nisan.

Thousands Attend Emergency Kinus
In light of the recent tragic automobile accident which claimed the lives of Mrs. Leah Azulai A"H and Avraham Dovid Liberov A"H, the Igud Avreichim organization of Crown Heights organized an emergency gathering. The Kinus was held on the last day of the Shiva, Thursday night in 770. The event included Torah, Tefillah and Tzedaka, to pray for and end to the Galus and to bring the ultimate redemption.

ZAKA Unit Arrives in Haiti
The Israel-based ZAKA International Rescue Unit delegation, who were in Mexico assisting in the recovery efforts following the helicopter crash on Sunday, flew to the Haiti earthquake disaster area in a Mexican air force Hercules together with the Mexican official aid delegation.

Lubavitcher chossid killed in crash
This evening a terrible car accident occurred at the Yagur junction in the north of Eretz Yisroel: A car hit a 70-year-old pedestrian. Hatzalah rescue volunteers arrived on the scene and tried to treat the victim, but they were forced to pronounce death. The deceased man's name is Rabbi Shlomo Tzorf, a"h, a Lubavitcher chossid who lives in Ramat Yishai in North Emek Yizrael.

This week we read about the first seven of the ten plagues that decimated Egypt and brought about the Exodus and birth of the Jewish nation. But at first glance it is totally not understood why there had to be so many plagues. Why couldn't G-d just make one nasty plague; for instance smite the Egyptians with depression and the Jews could leave quietly? Even more we see that the plagues didn't work! After they were over the Egyptians pursued the Jews to the 'Red' Sea and the Jews worshiped the Golden Calf!

Shloshim gathering to be held in Bais Rivkah
Tonight, Thursday, there will be a gathering for women to mark the Shloshim of Chaya Mushka Itkin, OBM. The gathering will be held at Bais Rivkah on Lefferts Ave. (Corner Brooklyn), and will start at 8:30. There will be a special presentation honoring Chaya Mushka's life as well as an address by Rabbi Yossi Jacobson. As a reminder there is a separate kinus for men, at 8:30 tonight in 770, which is also connected with Chaya Mushka Itkin.

Bar Mitzvah Boys Head Home
The last of the Aleph Institute's Bar Mitzvah children flew back home on Monday, thus concluding the fantastic experience that they were treated to by Aleph's staff headed by Rabbi Levi Kanelsky and Rabbi Yossi Ives. Baruch Dayan Ha'emes
Rebbetzin Tzvia Liba (Sylvia) Carlebach, matriarch of a large Lubavitch family on Shlichus who spearheaded Jewish life in the Laurentian Mountains, passed away Tuesday, 26 Teves 5770. She was 86. She is survived by Raizel Schmukler - Los Angeles, CA; Kuchi Kahn - London, UK; Rabbi Alex Carlebach - Johannesburg, South Africa; Rabbi Yosef Tzvi Carlebach - New Brunswick and central New Jersey; Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach - Crown Heights; and Rabbi Emanuel Carlebach - Ste. Agathe, Canada.

Over 47 New Shluchim!
This year, 47 new shluchim joined the ranks of the Rebbes army in Israel. Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Ahronov, director of the Chabad Youth Organization, announced this statistic at this years conference of Israeli shluchim. The situation today is that, baruch Hashem, Israel is completely covered with shluchim, he reported.

Zaka Volunteers Leave for Haiti
Foreign Ministry officials report that missing Israeli Bridget Pierre Amashi and her son David were located, bringing the number of Israelis still listed as missing in the Haiti earthquake to 6. Rescue and relief teams have left Israel, including officials from the Foreign Ministry, IDF search & rescue, IDF medical personnel, MDA, Hatzolah Yosh and other agencies. Colts Neck Hosts First Ever Winter Camp
The Chabad House of Holmdel has successfully concluded its first-ever Winter Camp for Teens program. The teen boys enjoyed  a full week of programs and activities that featured trips to New York City, skiing in the Catskill Mountains and a wide array of hands-on educational programs. "Big Brother" Learning Program
Once a week for after seder, the seventh and eighth graders of the Klurman Mesivta High School, run by Rabbi Yosef Zavdi, get a chance to learn with a "big brother," a bochur learning in the Yeshiva Gedolah. After an hour of learning sichos and maamarim, everyone is treated to pizza and fries. The program, which kicked off a few weeks ago, has been a major success. Some parents have even told the principal that their son looks forward the whole week for this special hour of learning. Thanks to Eli Zavdi and the Mesivta Shluchim for organizing this wonderful program.
